Twinsman

The Twinsman was designed to bridge the performance gap between a retro fish and a modern high-performance twin-fin surfboard.  It is one of Album’s most popular models, developed in collaboration with free surfer Archer Pacey and Matt Parker.

Key Performance Characteristics & Design Features

The Twinsman is engineered to offer “Mach 6” speed with the control and pivot typically associated with a thruster.

  • Versatility: Unlike traditional twin fins that can feel “skatey” or slippery, the Twinsman
    provides significant hold and drive.
  • User-Friendly Speed: It paddles efficiently and catches waves easily due to volume being concentrated under the chest.
  • Deck Profile: A unique flat to slightly concave deck pushes foam to the perimeter. This distributes volume evenly for better paddling while tapering into modern, responsive rails.
  • Tail Shape: Usually features a winged swallow tail for quick release and maneuverability.
  • Bottom Contour: A single-to-double concave with a spiral V through the fins, designed to generate instant speed and facilitate easy rail-to-rail transitions.
  • Beveled Rails: The rails have a lower apex that creates a more “positive” reaction, forcing power into the turn for faster acceleration.

Sizing and Setup

  • Volume: Surfers typically ride the Twinsman with slightly more volume than their standard performance shortboard.
  • Fins: It performs best with upright twin fin templates rather than keels, which can make the board feel too stiff.
