Description
The Album Vesper is a high-performance hybrid designed to be one of the most user-friendly and fastest-accelerating boards in Matt Parker’s lineup. It blends the effortless glide of a fish with the maneuverability of a performance board, making it effective in everything from thigh-high grovel to head-high hollow surf.
Key Design Features
- Bottom Contour: Features a single concave that transitions into a deep double-barrel concave through the tail. This setup generates massive lift and “turbocharged” acceleration during turns.
- Rocker Profile: Utilizes a “stretched fish rocker” that is flat under the chest for elite paddling but has more entry and exit rocker than a standard fish, allowing it to handle steeper wave faces.
- Deck and Rails: Designed with a flat deck and beak nose to pack in volume, paired with low apex rails for easier rail engagement despite the extra foam.
- Fin Setup: Typically ridden as a quad, providing a stable yet loose “all-wheel-drive” sensation.
Performance & Sizing
- Ride Feel: It is described as a “wave hog” that catches waves effortlessly while remaining sensitive and nimble underfoot.
- Sizing Advice: For the best experience, Album Surf suggests riding it a few inches longer than your standard fish and with 1–3 liters more volume than your daily shortboard.
