Description
The darkness has the paddle and glide of a traditional mid length, but is freed up by the addition of the twin fin. Effortless wave catching, speed and flow combined with a low apex rail giving the board more bite and maneuverability. A great all around option that is extremely versatile based on how you size it. Longer sizes are perfect longboard alternatives with a ton of paddle and glide. The shorter you go the more maneuverable, but slightly less paddle.
Key Design Features
- Rocker: Features a very low, relaxed rocker profile that maximizes surface area for speed and makes it a “wave-catching machine” even in tiny conditions.
- Rail & Outline: A sleek outline paired with low-apex, tapered rails provides more “bite” and maneuverability than a standard chunky mid-length.
- Bottom Contour: Typically transitions from a rolled entry to a single concave, flattening at the fin and finishing with a slight V or double concave out the tail.
- Foil: Ample volume is packed under the chest for paddle power.
Versatility & Performance
- Small Waves: Acts as a perfect longboard alternative in knee-high to waist-high surf, offering glide without the bulk of a 9-foot board.
- Solid Surf: Despite its mid-length DNA, the pulled-in tail and sleek rails allow it to perform well in head-high to slightly overhead waves.
- Sizing Impact:
- Longer (7’0″+): Maximizes glide and paddle, ideal for a relaxed, trim-focused style.
- Shorter (sub 6’10”): Increases maneuverability and “pocket” performance.
