Description
The Album Moonstone is a high-performance mid-length surfboard designed by Matt Parker. It is essentially a stretched-out version of a classic fish (specifically the Sunstone or UTF models) that maintains a narrow outline for better hold and maneuverability in good waves.
Key Characteristics
- Design Concept: A “long fish” platform that offers mid-length paddle power without sacrificing the speed and flow of a twin-fin.
- Performance: It planes instantly and turns momentum into speed. Unlike traditional mid-lengths that can feel “syrupy,” the Moonstone is described as dynamic and whippy off the tail.
- Versatility: It excels in everything from mushy, smaller conditions to larger, steeper waves where it can even serve as a step-up board.
Technical Specifications
- Bottom Contour: A mellow single concave under the front foot for lift, transitioning into a double concave through the fins, and ending with an accentuated vee off the tail for quick release.
- Rocker Profile: A “stretched fish rocker” that is flatter under the chest for paddling but features increased entry and exit rocker to handle steeper surf.
- Rail & Deck: Foam is packed under the chest for paddle power, tapering into modern, forgiving rails and a classic beak nose.
- Tail Options: Available in several variations, including a deep swallow tail, a rounded pin with channel bottoms, or a diamond tail.
