Concept
Fresh off the tour, Jack Freestone was looking for something new but not out of his comfort zone. The aim of the Freewing is just that, bringing new feeling and life into a familiar design. A high performance board that does more of the work for you.
Design & Performance Features
According to Album Surf, this board features a design that “does more of the work for you” through several key specifications:
- Wing & Tail Design: A noticeable wing in the outline carries more width through the tail, providing a loose and fast feeling off the back foot. This one is a squash tail for maneuverability, but they can be ordered with a round tail for added hold.
- Deck Profile: Features “hidden foam” in the center and under the chest, tapering quickly into a modern, thin rail. This provides extra paddle power and momentum without sacrificing high-performance rail sensitivity.
- Rocker & Contour: It utilizes a relaxed entry rocker for speed and paddling, paired with extra “flip” or rocker in the exit for critical turns in steep sections. The bottom contour is a deep single concave transitioning into a “spiral vee” off the tail.
Versatile Fin Setups
The board is highly adaptable to different conditions and surfing styles:
- Twin Trailer: Often recommended for a more “lively” and free-flowing ride.
- Thruster: Can be ridden as a standard three-fin setup for more control and traditional performance.
