Description
Since its introduction in 2014, the Evo has cemented its place as an honest candidate for the “one board quiver” award. The brainchild of Daniel Thompson (Tomo), this board relishes thigh-high days and punches above its weight when it’s head-high and a bit over!
As an updated incarnation of the modern planing hull (MPH), the Evo lends itself to seamlessly smooth changes of direction and exceptional pocket surfing. Technically the board has a lot going on; space age construction, split quad concaves, refined tail channels, and a glaringly obvious lack of a pointy nose.
The first release of the Evo featured LFT construction. And there it stayed until the Timbertek and Helium versions followed. Feedback indicated the Timbertek build to be a favorite among many who prefer quick thrust towards the shoulder and big hacks on rail, while the LFT version found a following with those preferring a more up and down approach in the pocket and in the lip.
With the Helium build, flex control was moved to the rails in the form of two light strips of Paulownia and Balsa wood. Additionally, this model incorporates a super tough space age deckskin to cover an incredibly light foam core bringing Helium in at a weight even lower than its LFT cousin! All in all, a winning approach to an already wildly successful model!
