Description
The Prolite 1-2-3 Convertible is a travel bag designed for shortboards that can be zipped apart to carry one, two, or three boards. It features thick padding and durable materials to protect your boards during airline travel.
Key features
- Versatile carrying capacity: The bag’s signature “1-2-3” feature is its ability to convert. It can be fully zipped together to carry three boards for long-haul travel. Once you arrive, you can unzip the middle section to create two fully padded day bags, which can be carried individually.
- High-density padding: The bag is constructed with 10mm “AIR-LITE” foam to provide lightweight yet substantial protection from impacts.
- Durable construction: It is made from a tough 600 Denier Cube-Tech ripstop polyester material. The bag also includes a Tyvex super-light internal liner.
- Corrosion-resistant zippers: The zippers are molded from a non-corrosive material to prevent them from seizing up due to exposure to salt and sand.
- Protective details: A rail guard runs along the inside of the zipper to protect your board’s rails from damage. The nose is also reinforced for added durability.
- Ventilation: The bag includes ventilation points to help keep your boards cool and prevent them from overheating.
- Added convenience: It comes with a padded shoulder strap and a molded rubber handle for comfortable transport. It also has a built-in identification badge pocket.
Capacity and dimensions
- Capacity: The bag is designed to carry three shortboards for travel. When unzipped, it can be used to transport one or two boards.
- 7’0″ size: For the 7’0″ model, the interior is cut approximately 3 inches longer, meaning it can comfortably accommodate boards up to 7’2″.
- Width: The bag’s width is 24 inches at its widest point.
- Weight: The empty bag weighs between 12 and 13 pounds, though this can vary slightly by size.
Travel advantage
The “1-2-3” design is a strategic advantage for airline travel, as it allows you to carry your boards in separate day bags once you reach your destination. Some traveling surfers have used the design to travel with three boards while paying airline fees for only two, by concealing the third board in the middle compartment.
